Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana Interest Rate 2025
The Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana (SSY) is a fixed-income investment scheme launched by the Government of India under its 'Beti Bachao Beti Padhao' initiative. Designed to help parents save for their daughter's future, it offers a guaranteed rate of return on investments.
To open an SSY account, a girl child must be under 10 years of age. A minimum deposit of ₹250 is required annually to keep the account active, with a maximum yearly investment limit of ₹1.5 lakh. Deposits can be made for up to 15 years from the date the account is opened, and the scheme matures when the girl child is 21 years old or gets married after the age of 18. Partial withdrawals of up to 50% of the account balance are permitted once the girl turns 18.
The SSY interest rate is set by the Government based on yields from Government securities and is reviewed quarterly. The current interest rate for 2025 is 8.2% per annum. Interest is calculated annually and compounded yearly, providing a steady growth for the savings.
